Recently, various skin substitutes, such as Integra®, AlloDerm®, Dermagraft®, and Matriderm® have been commercialized however, most skin substitutes have disadvantages such as relative simplicity of tissue engineering structures, very few therapeutic effects, and immune rejection responses. However, the treatments for extensive burns, chronic wounds, and other wounds involving remarkable skin loss are presently limited moreover, autologous split-thickness skin grafts are still used as a standard treatment. In general, skin injuries can heal spontaneously. The skin is a complex organ that provides protection, exhibits regulatory functions, and is responsible for communication between the external environment and internal organisms.
